Some jobs carried out by us recently

Peugeot Partner DPF Issue

A customer contacted us after having multiple dpf problems. The customer had taken the van to 2 separate dpf cleaning specialists, however shortly after both visits the dpf blocked up again.

We suggested something was likely to be causing the dpf regenerations to 'not take place' as they should.

After checking the engine compartment it became obvious quickly that the turbo actuator hose was split and not allowing correct vacuum.

Although a code was stored in the ECU it wasn't showing on the dashboard.

When an ECU stores faults like this within its data table it will stop dpf regeneration cycles from happening, effectively leading to a blocked DPF.

Very important that if you have a DPF fault that you check the vehicle for all underlying faults before you just clean the dpf, as this doesn't address the root cause.

Customer has covered 800 miles since we repaired the turbo actuator fault with no sign of any DPF problems reoccurring. DPF cleaning has it's place, however 9/10 times there is underlying issues causing the dpf problems.

We advised the customer to also renew the dpf filter after the turbo actuator repair was completed. The various oven treatments it received previously had started to melt the filter honeycomb with small cracks starting to appear.

Audi A3 TSFI Brake Issue

Audi with unusual brake problem. Symptoms were the brake pedal would suddenly lose pressure and then return to full pressure in the same stroke. Quite scary and very unusual in terms of brake faults.

We first advised the customer that a full brake pressure bleed would be required to rule out air in the brake system, after carrying out this the fault was still present. This now can only now be 1 of 3 things, Faulty ABS pump, Caliper loosing pressure at the wheel or Master servo brake cylinder.

Brake faults on cars are almost impossible to diagnose via scan tools or electrical checks, you just have to apply your hydraulic and mechanical head at times like this.

We advised the customer that replacing the master cylinder / servo block would be our first choice in terms of repair. After removing the brake cylinder servo setup and stripping down the unit, it became clear that both seals were perished. We were on the home run with this repair.

At this point the customer opted to have a refurbished 2nd hand unit fitted as new units from Audi were almost £700 that she couldn't justify at the time. The master cylinder fitted and servo resealed and the brake system now in full working order again.

The customer was very happy her brakes now worked and the overall cost was considerably lower than fitting a new unit direct from Audi.

Dacia Sandero 0.9 Timing Chain

This little sandero with a rattling from the engine bay, The Dacia sandero with 0.9 size engine is known for rattling timing chains.

With these engines running very tight cam tolerances, should you start to hear a light rattling coming from the engine we would advise you don't ignore and get the chain replaced asap.

After stripping off the timing chain cover we discovered that one of the tensioners had broken off resuilting in that dreaded chain slap noise. Upon further removal of the chain we also noticed that the chain has stretched by 2mm.

These Dacia's share the same timing gear as the Renault Clio, Captur, Megane and Scenic 1.2 tce aswell as the Nissan Qashqai and Juke 1.2

These replacements are fairly time consuming to complete as a whole range of components from the top of the engine has to be removed prior to replacing the acutal chain itself.

If you own one of these Dacia's or models listed above it is important to service the engine oil frequently as these timing chains rely on clean oil to operate correctly.

Peugeot 308 T9 Clutch & Flywheel Replacement

Generally the flywheel and clutch system on the Peugeot 308 1.6 HDI are fairly robust, however like all mechanical parts they will eventually wear out.

This 308 for clutch & flywheel wear. A fairly intensive job to replace these items compaired with some vehicles.

All parts were replaced with high quality aftermarket components, another day dusted and another pleased customer.

Renault Clio 1.4

The customer required us to carry out this job through our mobile 'we come to you' service as the customer had other comittments that made visting a garage difficult.

We replaced the whole timing belt with tensioner assembly with high quality aftermarket parts.

Whilst we were doing the job, the customer asked if we could also service the car with new engine oil and filters etc.

This service was very convinent for the customer in this instance. We can carry out certain jobs via our mobile van, however some jobs require the car to be at our workshop.

Audi A2 Suspension Spring Replacement

After noticing a clunking sound when driving over bumps and unable to book in to their regular garage at short notice, This customer found us online and contacted us for a quote.

We required the car at our workshop for this repair as a spring compressor tool is required to complete the job.

After the customer delivered the car we advised the customer that not only had the spring failed but the top bearing mount would need replacing aswell.

The customer was happy to proceed and had their car back within a few hours all good to go again.
