How Do Car Brakes Work?

There are 5 main components that make up your cars braking system, these are

*Brake Pedal / Master Cylinder
*Brake fluid lines between the master cylinder & brake calipers
*Brake Calipers
*Brake Pads
*Brake Discs

As the brake pedal inside the footwell is depressed, hydraulic fluid is compressed within the brake lines that run between the master cylinder & brake calipers. This then moves the brake pads towards your brake discs, once contact has been made between the brake pads & discs, friction will eventually stop the discs / wheels from rotating and bring your car to a stop.
